Philosophy

At Nawab’s International School the child (learner) is the heart of everything that happens. The Nawab’s philosophy and curriculum are completely child-centric. It is the learner's participation, experience, voice and opinions that matter the most.      Every child has a different set of Aptitude, Personality and Interests. Also each child has a different Learning Style as propounded in Gardener's theory of Multiple Intelligence. We believe that every type of endeavor - academic and non-academic - must be recognized and encouraged. The child must be encouraged to pursue her interests with complete freedom, whatever they might be.      It is only with a healthy mix of these that learning becomes a joy and fosters an inquisitive personality. The recognition of multiple intelligence respects the basic difference in us all and helps to choose a career path that suits your API (aptitude-interest-personality).      The spirit of Inquiry is the cornerstone of Nawab’s International School - to constantly inquire, to seek out the truth and most importantly never to stop questioning. It is only when one begins to ask questions that one can begin to know thyself. It is only when you are armed with this most potent knowledge - of yourself; you can further learn and understand life.      Nawab’s emphasizes on learning through action, through inquiry. Ours is a model of learning for understanding.

Central to it is:

1) The creation of active experiences. 2) Encouraging and facilitating the asking and answering of questions. phlsoy We follow the 5 E’s of effective learning quite strictly in our pedagogy: Engage: Create an activity that engages the child, ideally an experience from real life. Explore:Create opportunities for exploring the idea viz. let them use different cricket batsof different weights on the field. Explain: Explain the phenomenon observed by giving it a name e.g. what they saw was indeed Newton’s second law of motion at work. Expand: Help create connections to more complex ideas and thoughts on the subject. Evaluate: Test and assess the students' understanding to know whether they have actually been able to breakdown, digest and understand what was learnt.
